College of Management Honors 754 Graduates at May 15 Ceremony

Of those, four received Ph.D. degrees in economics; 213 received masters’ degrees, and 537 received bachelors’ degrees. Individual students were also honored for their academic achievements. Outstanding Student Award

Benjamin Palmer Carlton received the 2010 Outstanding Student Award from the College of Management Board of Advisors. Students are nominated for this recognition by members of the faculty, and the award recipient is selected by a committee of faculty, staff and representatives of the college’s Board of Advisors.

Carlton, from Hickory, N.C., received a bachelor of science degree in business administration with concentrations in finance and accounting, with a concentration in financial analysis, and a bachelor’s degree in economics. He is a Park Scholar and member of the following honorary societies: Phi Beta Kappa, Order of Omega, Phi Eta Sigma and Omicron Delta Epsilon. Carlton also is a founding member of the Inter-Fraternity Council Judicial Board at NC State. Carlton studied abroad at Oxford University and has been a volunteer for numerous organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, March of Dimes and Service Raleigh. He completed a summer internship with the North Carolina General Assembly as a legislative assistant, and is currently employed by the General Assembly. He plans to enter law school in the fall.

Highest Ranking Seniors and University Valedictorians

The following students earned the highest grade point average in their academic programs. They also university valedictorians, which signifies that they had at least 100 credit hours at NC State and a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
