Economy in Crisis: a Panel Discussion to be held Nov. 11

In response to questions from fellow students about the economic crisis, the Economics Society at NC State’s College of Management is hosting a panel discussion on the topic. Three of the college’s economics department faculty will discuss ‘the state of our economy … past, present and future.” The panel discussion will be held Tuesday, Nov. 11, 4:30 p.m. in 2405 Nelson Hall, led by professors Lee Craig, John Lapp and Doug Pearce. Pizza and beverages will be served.

Topics to be covered include:

  • What caused the developments in the economy over the past six to 12 months to occur?
  • What sectors are impacted? How badly are the affected?
  • What is the ‘bailout’ likely to accomplish (or not)?

Students and other participants are invited to bring their own questions as well. For additional information, contact Bobby Puryear, Economics Society faculty advisor; Eric Bocka, Economics Society president, and Aji Faye, Economics Society vice president.
