Final Tally – College’s Shack-a-Thon Team Makes Top Four

The college’s team, with members from the college’s undergraduate Student Ambassadors, Peer Leaders and Alpha Kappa Psi, hoped to finish in the top four, said Lauren Ginsberg, one of the team leaders.“Teams that finished in the top four in terms of funds raised are guaranteed a spot in next year’s event and will also receive wood from NCSU Habitat for constructing their shack next year,” she said.

“As a first time ‘shack,’ I feel that we have surprised not only the NCSU community, but ourselves as well,” said Erin Summerlin, president of the college’s Student Ambassadors and one of the team leaders. “We set our goals and surpassed them completely!”

Summerlin added, “The COM Shack received tremendous support from the College of Management. We really set the standard for shacks in the future, and created the most professional shack in that community. It’s amazing to know that our Board (of Advisors) and alumni support our students so much – something that many other colleges on our campus cannot say. I am truly proud to be a future alum of this college. In addition, several departments supported us financially. Many thanks to anyone that did!”

She also commented on the student collaboration that led to creation of the team. “I’m so excited that three of the student organizations in the College of Management came together for this event. I think we can all agree that it was long overdue. As current president of the Ambassadors, I look forward to continuing building the relationships between Peer Leaders and AK Psi this year – and all of the college’s student organizations – as well as setting this precedent for the future.”
