Jenkins BioSciences MBA Students Have New Study Abroad Option

NC State Poole College’s Jenkins MBA students have a new opportunity in Dublin, Ireland. With the guidance of Dr. Richard Kouri, professor of practice in Poole College, students will work on bioscience practica projects for local biosciences firms in Dublin, along with students at University College Dublin.

p. Students will complete short term projects with bio-agricultural, bioindustrial, medical device, diagnostic, or pharmaceutical firms using skills developed during the first year of the MBA program. They also will learn the tools needed to pursue management in biosciences and pharmaceutical environments in either science based functions or business functions. In turn, the company sponsors receive new approaches and solutions to improve performance, positioning themselves for an enhanced competitive advantage.

p. Examples of such projects include evaluation of supply chain efficiencies, performing data mining, examining a company’s patent positions, or surveying the competitive landscape in order to forge strategic partnerships. Descriptions of prior biosciences practica projects can be seen in the Summer Practica blog series.

p. The course, running from May 27 to June 1, 2013, will have 15 student slots available and will require several pre-trip meetings to discuss reading assignments, background research, and travel logistics. Expected student costs are $875 per student plus student-arranged airfare and tuition expense for a 3-credit course.

p. For additional information, please contact Dr. Richard Kouri.
