Jenkins MBA Alumni Organize MBA Wolfpack Run to Honor Former Professor, Gregg Museum Curator

Alumni of the NC State Poole College of Management’s Jenkins MBA program have organized the MBA Wolfpack Run in memory of a former professor, the late Dr. Lynn Ennis.

The 5K run will be held March 3, 2012, on NC State’s Centennial Campus, beginning at the Dorothy and Roy Park Alumni Center. Registration and other details about the event are available online. NC State alumni can get a $5 discount by entering “ncsualumni” in the Coupon Code box when registering on active.com.

Ennis, who was the associate director and curator of the collection at The Gregg Museum of Art & Design at North Carolina State University prior to her unexpected death in July 2011, also taught the Creativity in Business class for several years in the Jenkins MBA program.

Former students Karen Bell and Carol Nguyen Steen and other members of the Jenkins MBA Class of 2009 collaborated with Poole College’s Jenkins MBA program, NC State Jenkins MBA Alumni Society, NCSU Alumni Association, and the Gregg Museum of Art to host the 5K run. Proceeds from the MBA Wolfpack Run will be donated to the Gregg Museum of Art & Design in her memory.

Ennis made her love for art and creativity apparent both in the art community and the Jenkins MBA classroom where she challenged the MBA students to solve problems with creative approaches. One example of her influence was the post-Katrina Alternative Spring Break trip that students organized, with her guidance, to the lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans, where they volunteered business-consulting support for small business owners trying to resume operations after the flood. Student teams in the Creativity in Business class also worked on projects for nonprofit and government organizations in the Triangle area as part of the course’s experiential learning component.
