NC State Jenkins MBA jumps up in US News & World Report ranking

The 2015 U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate School rankings released today boosted the NC State Jenkins MBA program to No. 65 among full-time MBA programs in the United States. The Jenkins Professional MBA Program was ranked No. 61. The rankings place these Jenkins graduate management programs in the top 13 percent of all AACSB-accredited business programs nationwide.

The Jenkins programs saw the second-largest jump of any school in this year’s rankings – 23 places. This is the third major ranking in a year in which the Jenkins MBA programs have demonstrated positive performance.

US News ranked NC State’s Online MBA program No. 36 in its January 2014 Best Graduate Online Business Programs ranking – an increase from No. 42 in 2013. In October 2013, Bloomberg BusinessWeek ranked the face-to-face Professional MBA program among the top 20 in the country.

“Our young MBA program has grown by leaps and bounds over the last decade, and the rankings are beginning to reflect the value of our unique focus: Preparing MBA students to effectively lead people and organizations in a time of rapid, technology-driven change,” said Dr. Steve Allen, associate dean for graduate programs and research in the NC State Poole College of Management and Jenkins Graduate School.

“We are appreciative of the opportunities these rankings provide us to share the story of the NC State Jenkins MBA,” said Allen. “Ira Weiss, dean of the Poole College, was recently quoted in the MBA blog, Poets and Quants, correctly stating that ‘We are not your grandfather’s MBA.’ I think that’s at the heart of how the Jenkins MBA has been able to grow so effectively.”

The US News ranking of full-time MBA programs is comprised of results from surveys of deans and employers, in addition to career placement and admissions selectivity statistics. NC State’s 23-place increase over last year was a result of improvements on nearly every metric, including average GMAT score of incoming students (627) and percentage of graduates placed into full-time jobs within three months of graduation (71.4 percent).

The part-time ranking is based on results of a survey of deans, as well as selectivity, student experience and enrollment metrics.

NC State is currently accepting applications for the MBA programs starting in fall 2014. For more information, visit the Jenkins MBA website. The NC State Jenkins MBA is available in three formats: full-time, profession and professional online.
