NC State Poole College announces fall 2013 Wells Fargo Executive Series presenters

The NC State University Poole College of Management announces speakers for its fall 2013 Wells Fargo Executive Series. All presentations are held in 3400 Nelson Hall, 2801 Founders Drive on NC State’s main campus in Raleigh, N.C. The talks are held from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., including a question/answer segment. There is no charge for admission but registration is required. The registration form and additional details are at the college's Wells Fargo Executive Series website.

October 2 | James H. Speed, Jr.

James H. Speed, Jr., president and chief executive officer of North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company, is this fall’s first presenter. He will speak on Wednesday, October 2, on the topic: "Change: A Leadership Imperative."

Speed joined North Carolina Mutual – the oldest and largest insurance company in America with roots in the African-American community – as senior vice president and chief financial officer in 2002.

Drawing on more than 30 years’ experience as a CPA with Deloitte & Touche and senior leadership roles at Hardee’s Food Systems, Speed guided North Carolina Mutual’s strategic planning process and in 2003 was named acting president and chief executive officer. He was named to his current role in 2004. Speed also serves on the boards of numerous community, civic, and business organizations including the board of directors for Mechanics and Farmers Bank and Investors Title Company. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Black Accountants.

November 6 | Christopher Curtis

Christopher Curtis, president and chief executive officer of Schneider Electric North American Operating Division will speak on Wednesday, November 6, on the topic of Leadership.

For over 15 years, Curtis has been guiding the strategy, growth and evolution of Schneider Electric and is a key thought leader in Intelligent Energy, driving the company’s comprehensive range of “right-now” energy solutions. He is actively involved in the Alliance to Save Energy and serves on Board of Governors for the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, among other organizations. He has been in his current role in 2008.
