NC State Poole College announces five appointments to Dean’s Advisory Board

The North Carolina University State Poole College of Management announces the appointment of five area executives to the college’s Dean’s Advisory Board. Each appointment is for three years.

“Poole College very much appreciates the service that our board chairs and individual board members give to the college through their insight and involvement in college activities,” said Ira R. Weiss, Steven P. Zelnak Chair and dean of the Poole College of Management.

Joining the college’s board of advisors this year are Chris Cooper, director at Credit Suisse; Jim Davis, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, SAS; James (Jim) M. Hansen, regional president of PNC Bank, Eastern Carolinas; Mark Morais, vice president, business operations, clinical site management, Quintiles; and Alex Wallace, managing director and head of public finances, U.S. Bancorp Municipal Securities Group.

Chris Cooper, director, Credit Suisse

Chris Cooper joined Credit Suisse in New York, N.Y., in 2000 in support of client technology, and then moved to Raleigh, N.C., to oversee the establishment of its Global Support Center in 2010. He now leads a strategic programs team accountable for providing continuous improvement and transformation solutions within Credit Suisse Technology Services. Cooper received his bachelor’s degree in information systems from Fordham University in 2000, and previously served in the U.S. Air Force. He resides in Raleigh, N.C., with his wife and children.

Jim Davis, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, SAS

As chief marketing officer at SAS, Jim Davis is responsible for providing strategic direction for SAS products, solutions and services and presenting the SAS brand worldwide. He also oversees a number of operational units including alliances and channels, product management and customer engagement and support. Davis joined SAS in 1994 as an enterprise computing strategist focused on information technology issues and later was program manager for data warehousing, one of SAS' first global projects to incorporate customer feedback in the development process. He was promoted to director of product strategy and then vice president of worldwide marketing before assuming his current role. He earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science from the NC State College of Engineering and resides in Cary, NC.

James (Jim) M. Hansen, regional president of PNC Bank, Eastern Carolinas

In his current role at PNC Bank, Jim Hansen is responsible for all corporate banking, commercial banking, wealth management and institutional investments businesses across the market. He also leads sponsorship and philanthropic efforts to execute PNC’s community-based goals and initiatives. Hansen joined PNC through its acquisition of RBC Bank (USA) in March 2012 and was named to his current position in June 2014. Prior to that, he was a regional president in PNC's Alabama market. Previously, he was based in Raleigh in sales and leadership roles in commercial, public, and institutional banking for PNC's predecessor bank RBC Bank (USA), formerly Centura Bank. He serves on the boards of the North Carolina Chamber of commerce and the North Carolina Symphony. Hansen received his bachelor’s degree in business management with a minor in statistics from N.C. State University's Poole College of Management and an M.B.A. from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel-Hill. He resides in Raleigh, N.C., with his wife and two children.

Mark Morais, vice president, business operations, clinical site management, Quintiles

Mark Morais has over 14 years’ experience working in clinical research, specializing in strategic pricing and partnering, key account business management, and program and project management. In his most recent position, he was responsible for driving the pricing strategy for Quintiles’ clinical organization, including Clinical CRO, QLab, Global Functional Resourcing (GFR), Phase I, and Cardiac Safety. In this role, he provided governance of pricing strategies, budget reviews and sign-off processes, pricing systems and management and negotiation of Quintiles transformational offerings. Morais worked directly with customers to provide solutions for strategic alliances, preferred provider agreements and MSAs. His experience also includes program and project management, specializing in CNS therapeutics, as well as some prior experience in anti-infectives and cardiovascular. In addition, he was just assigned new responsibilities in Quintiles’ Clinical Site Management Organization, responsible for business operations and innovations. He is a graduate of NC State Poole College of Management with a degree in economics.

Alex Wallace, managing director and head of public finances, U.S. Bancorp Municipal Securities Group

A 23-year veteran of the municipal securities industry with broad experience across many aspects of municipal finance, Alex Wallace joined U.S. Bancorp in August 2009. He previously was co-head of Wachovia Securities’ municipal securities group, with responsibility for the public finance group. Prior to joining Wachovia Securities, Wallace worked for the State Treasurer's Office of the State of North Carolina. He is active in various business and professional organizations. He served as chairman of the Carolinas Municipal Advisory Council and the CityWest Community Development Corporation, and is a long-time member of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts and other industry organizations, including policy committees for the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association ("SIFMA"). Wallace has bachelor’s degrees in economics and business management from NC State Poole College and a master of public administration degree with a concentration in public finance from NC State.
