The Poole College of Management at North Carolina State University announces that Dr. Nancy Cassill has been named director of Global Luxury Management, a specialized option within Poole College’s dual-degree Jenkins Master of Global Innovation Management program. Cassill’s appointment is effective May 15, 2013.

This one-year, dual-degree curriculum  – designed for those seeking careers in the management side of the global luxury market – is delivered in partnership with SKEMA Business School and in collaboration with NC State’s College of Textiles.

Dr. Nancy CassillCassill is a professor in the Department of Textiles and Apparel Technology and Management in the College of Textiles. She joined NC State in 2000 and served as department head from July 2008 to June 2012.

As department head, Cassill was instrumental in establishing an exceptionally strong industry advisory board for the college’s Fashion and Textile Management program and expanding partnerships with industry. She also led the creation of the bachelor of science degree program in Fashion and Textile Design, in collaboration with NC State’s College of Design.

The Global Luxury Management option provides students with the opportunity to prepare for management roles in the global luxury market. Students take courses in the fall semester at NC State’s Poole College of Management and College of Textiles, complete spring semester coursework at SKEMA Business School at its Sophia Antipolis, France, campus, and conclude the program with a summer internship. Students successfully completing the program receive two degrees: a Master of Global Innovation Management degree from NC State and a Master of Science degree from SKEMA. The inaugural class is concluding studies in France and will graduate this year.

“We expect a strong enrollment of students from the Poole College of Management, the College of Textiles and other NC State colleges, SKEMA, and other universities,” said Dr. Steve Allen, associate dean for graduate programs at the Poole College of Management.

As director of Global Luxury Management, Cassill’s primary responsibilities will be to provide academic leadership, build strong alliances with industry, and grow enrollment. She will continue teaching and conducting research in the College of Textiles.
