Lonnie Poole Golf Course is Site of Oct. 22 Golf Outing, Oktoberfest

This event – both a fundraiser and a social gathering – will be held Thursday, October 22, 2009, at the new Lonnie Poole Golf Course on NC State’s Centennial Campus in Raleigh, N.C.

The event begins at 1:00 p.m. with a shotgun start for the afternoon golf tournament, and concludes with an Oktoberfest-themed reception that begins at 530 p.m. in a tented area at the golf course.

The reception is open to all alumni and friends of the college, whether they are golfing or not. Golfers will compete for a slate of three prizes, to be awarded at the reception. There will also be a special hole-in-one prize.

“We join the university community in celebrating the tremendous addition of this wonderful new Arnold Palmer Signature Course, and are pleased to offer the opportunity for our alumni and friends to enjoy an afternoon of golf – and help support the college at the same time,” said Ira R. Weiss, dean of the college.

Non-golfers are welcome to come for the reception only, which will feature microbrewery beers and brats.

The golf outing is open to the first 140 people who register, playing in 35 teams of four, captain’s choice.

There is a cost of $500 per team of four to play golf and attend the Oktoberfest reception, or $150 for individual golfers. The cost for those attending the reception only is $25 per person. A portion of participants’ donations go to support the NC State College of Management programs.
