Poole College’s WolfPAC Team Advances to Finals in AICPA Competition

NC State Poole College’s “WolfPAC” team has advanced to the final round in the 2012 American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Accounting Competition.

Team members are Amy Gilmore, a senior in accounting; Ashley Bryant, a senior in managerial accounting; David Mall, a senior in accounting concentrating in information systems; and James Burford, a junior in accounting.

The WolfPAC is one of three finalists selected from 20 semi-finalists and over 100 original teams across the U.S. in this competition, said Eileen Taylor, faculty advisor for the team.

As finalists, WolfPAC will travel to Washington, DC, where they will give their final presentation in front of a panel of judges for a chance to win the $10,000 grand prize. WolfPAC’s presentation is on replacing the current income tax system with the Value Added Tax (VAT), a simpler system designed for the common person.

The presentations and judging occur on December 18, with the winners announced on December 20.
