ERM – AICPA to Present Risk Oversight Workshop for Boards of Directors

The workshop will be held Oct. 23-34 at the AICPA board room in New York City.

The ERM Initiative and AICPA first offered the workshop in March 2008 at AICPA’s offices in New York City. “We saw ongoing strong interest regarding this topic following our spring presentation, and decided to offer it again to those who could not attend at that time,” said Mark Beasley, director of the ERM Initiative.

The workshop was developed to help audit committee members understand emerging expectations for greater risk oversight. It also helps participants develop effective audit committee practices for evaluating and monitoring techniques used to manage entity risks, helping to assure that stakeholder value is protected and enhanced.

This high-level interactive forum is limited to 60 participants. Attendees will discuss with leading experts in enterprise risk management emerging trends related to the intersection of ERM and audit committee governance and strategic planning. The workshop will also provide a forum for exchanging ideas with others serving in audit committee roles.

The one and a half day workshop will be held in the AICPA Boardroom in New York City, NY. Participants may receive 13 CPE credits. Details of the workshop and registration information are available online at the ERM Website,

The ERM Initiative at NC State’s College of Management is widely-known for providing international thought-leadership on enterprise risk management, with an emphasis on the role of ERM in strategic planning and corporate governance.
