Students Recognized for Leadership Activities

The college was also recognized for having the highest number of student participants in the Leadership Development Series in the 2008-09 academic year.

“This is a wonderful accomplishment that signals loudly to potential employers that these students are part of an elite group that sets – and accomplishes – stretch goals. I congratulate them all,” said Shannon Davis, associate dean for undergraduate programs at the college.

Receiving certificates of completion were:

  • Caroline E. Gibson, senior, accounting, information systems concentration
  • Cetric Kiaku, senior, business administration
  • Christopher W. Deitz, senior, business administration
  • Oluwanisola O. Ola, senior, economics
  • Patrick E. Robinson, senior, business and Spanish language and literature
  • Patrick G. Wright, senior, accounting, financial analysis concentration

To earn the certificates, the students participated in 10 Leadership Development Series workshops, 20 hours of community service, and completed a leadership portfolio and portfolio review process.

Robinson commended the College of Management for encouraging student involvement in CSLEPS. While he had been involved with university programs through student government during his sophomore year at NC State, it wasn’t until his senior year that he became active in CSLEPS, when one of his management classes required students to attend at least four Leadership Development Seminars.

“I really enjoyed the seminars and found them to be particularly useful to my professional experiences,” he wrote in a note to Davis. “I then decided to complete the series of LDS workshops. I found it to be a great experience,” he said.
