About the speaker

Since 2005, Noll has overseen the spinoff and engineered the turnaround of the $4.5 billion Hanesbrands Inc. into one of the leading basic apparel companies in the world. Hanes’ improvement adds to Mr. Noll’s track record of leading companies to success by building strong brands while simultaneously creating sustainable cost advantages.

Under his leadership, Hanes has attained the No. 1 U.S. share position in all of its core innerwear categories by significantly increasing innovation and expanding distribution of its flagship brands, Hanes and Champion. The company has simultaneously built a low-cost global supply chain with 50,000 employees in 25 countries that serve 70 percent of the world’s markets. Hanes is using this cost advantage to support further growth in North America and to rapidly expand its commercial businesses in Brazil, China, and India.

He began his career in 1992 at Sara Lee Corporation, turning around several domestic and international apparel businesses. He then led the 24,000-employee worldwide Sara Lee Bakery Group where he oversaw the launch of the Sara Lee brand into fresh bread. Sara Lee became the No. 1 U.S. bread brand in just 18 months resulting in Mr. Noll being named executive of the year by Snack Food & Wholesale Baking magazine. He began his professional career in 1985 with Mercer Management Consulting where he specialized in strategic and operational consulting for consumer goods companies.

This speaker series, hosted by Poole College for over a decade, is presented with the support of Wells Fargo.
