DESCRIPTION:Nelson Hall Board Room\, 3220 \nJoin us for a research workshop as Dr. Shyam Sunder presents his research.  \nDr. Sunder is the James L. Frank Professor of Accounting\, Economics and Finance at the Yale School of Management and Professor in the Department of Economics. Dr. Sunder is a prolific researcher and has won many awards. \nBio\nDr. Shyam Sunder’s research contributions include financial reporting\, information in security markets\, statistical theory of valuation\, and design of electronic markets. He is a pioneer in the fields of experimental finance and experimental macroeconomics. Dr. Sunder has won many awards for his research that includes ten books and more than 200 articles in the leading journals of accounting\, economics and finance\, as well as in popular media. \nDr. Sunder’s current research includes the problem of structuring U.S. and international accounting and auditing institutions to obtain a judicious and efficient balance between regulatory oversight and market competition. He is a past president of the American Accounting Association\, former director of the Millstein Center for Corporate Governance and Performance at Yale\, honorary research director of Great Lakes Institute of Management in Chennai\, and distinguished fellow of the Center for Study of Science and Technology Policy in Bengaluru. DESCRIPTION:Poole College’s Department of Business Management is hosting Sam Ransbotham\, associate professor of information technology and analytics at Boston College\, on September 28 and 29. He is a guest editor at the MIT Sloan Management Review and writes on the topics of analytics and innovation. \nDr. Ransbotham’s talk on Friday\, September 29\, in the Nelson Hall boardroom\, will cover his recent research into crowdsourcing and innovation using textual analysis and a more general discussion of analytics and artificial intelligence based on his MIT SMR industry research. Richard Warr\, head of the Department of Business Management\, has opportunities for those interested to meet with Sam (including breakfasts\, lunch and dinner)\, starting on Thursday afternoon and running through Friday.
