Russell Cohen is a dynamic leader with a successful 23-year career as Chairman and co-CEO of the $110 million luxury jewelry company, Carlyle & Co.. Russ joined Carlyle & Co. in 1977 as a Store Manager trainee, was promoted to Store Manager in 1978, Vice President of Marketing in 1980 and to Chairman and co-CEO in 1986. His achievements include planning and executing a complete rebranding of the company in 1999 to focus exclusively on the luxury business, played a leading role in the negotiation and sale of the business in 2005 and worked closely with new ownership and executive leadership to facilitate the acquisition and integration of the company in 2005.
Russ has also recently worked with the DeBeers Forevermark brand in the US and Cora International as an independent consultant.
Russ graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He obtained his MBA at Columbia University in NYC. He is also a graduate gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America. Professional affiliations include Jewelers of America: Board of directors (1988-1994), DeBeers United States Carat Club (1993-2001) and the National Jewelers Hall of Fame (inducted-1997).
