FAQs

No. All courses are taught in English by NC State faculty members. It is beneficial to know a few words in the host language to get around town!

Students should work directly with their academic advisor to determine how the specific courses of each program count toward their degree requirements.

Due to the short and intensive nature of summer and short-term study abroad group programs, students should expect to have a full schedule of class, corporate visits, cultural excursions and coursework for the duration of the program. While there will be time for students to explore the city during the program, students are not permitted to travel outside of the host city during the program. Students are welcome to travel for personal reasons before or after the program.

Due to the short and intensive nature of summer and short-term study abroad group programs, and for risk management and liability purposes, visitors are not permitted to accompany a participant on the program. This includes staying in the accommodations arranged by the program. This allows the University to maintain the academic integrity of the program, and ensure the safety of the student participant cohort.

At this time, the COVID-19 vaccine is not required by NC State University to participate in study abroad programs. However, it is strongly encouraged that all participants be fully vaccinated in accordance with recommendations from the CDC and the US Department of State. In addition, many of the program locations require travelers to be fully vaccinated to enter the country.
