Shack-a-Thon Fundraising continues through Oct. 3
The shacks are gone from NC State’s Brickyard, but fundraising continues online through October 3 for the 2014 Shack-a-Thon fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity of Wake County.
Poole College’s team is at 85% of its target, having raised $5,680 toward its goal of $6,700. Campus-wide, the Shack-a-Thon has raised $30,045 toward its goal of $37,500.
Included in Poole College’s total are several honorary gifts from businesses and individuals. Honorary sponsor levels are $500-plus, gold; $250 to $499, silver; and $100 to $249, bronze. The honorary sponsors were recognized with signage at the Poole shack last week, and will be recognized with a sign in the display window adjacent to the Nelson Hall auditorium, 3400 Nelson throughout the year.
Dozens of students took turns staying in the Poole College shack last week, selling baked goods and Poole-branded merchandise. Included were members of Poole College’s Student Ambassadors, Peer Leaders, Student Network Group Mentors and the Poole Council. Members of the leadership team this year were:
- Donations Coordinator Casey Knosby (Student Ambassador)
- Staffing Coordinator Michelle Howard (Student Ambassador)
- Marketing Coordinator Rachel Brame (Peer Leader)
- Supplies & Build Coordinators Clark Harmon (Student Ambassador) and Scott Gray (Student Ambassador alum)
The shack, which had been built from modular pieces originally constructed in 2013, was dismantled on October 27 and is in storage, ready for re-use during the 2015 Shack-a-Thon.
