The NC State’s Jenkins Graduate Economics Program offers the PhD degree as well as two master\u2019s degree options: the Master of Science in economics and the Master of Economics.<\/p>\n

For undergraduate students currently enrolled at North Carolina State University, we also offer the accelerated Bachelor\u2019s \/ Master\u2019s degree program (ABM).<\/p>\n

Each of these is designed to prepare our students to be competitive in academia, research, government and private sector positions. The programs offer rigorous training in microeconomic theory, macroeconomic theory and quantitative analysis while still maintaining a high degree of flexibility when choosing areas of specialization.<\/p>\n

Our master’s programs currently offer four concentrations:<\/p>\n

  1. Financial Economics<\/li>\n
  2. International Economics<\/li>\n
  3. Natural Resources and Environmental Economics<\/li>\n
  4. Applied Econometrics<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Our PhD program currently offers two-course fields of specialization in Agricultural Economics, Development and Labor Economics, Econometrics, Environmental and Resource Economics, International Economics, Macro\/Monetary Economics and Microeconomic Theory\/Industrial Organization.<\/p>\n

    Student Learning Objectives<\/h2>\n

    Upon completion of the Master of Economics degree, the Master of Science in Economics degree and the Doctoral Degree in Economics:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    • Students should be able to describe and explain the fundamental nature and the mathematical characterization of economic phenomena.<\/li>\n
    • Students should be able to describe the interplay of theory and observation.<\/li>\n
    • Students should be able to apply critical thinking, problem solving and computational skills relevant to economics.<\/li>\n
    • Students should be able to apply economic theory to new and innovative problems relevant to economics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Further, upon completion of the Master of Science in Economics degree and the Doctoral Degree in Economics:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      • Students should be able to conduct original scientific research independently.<\/li>\n
      • Students should be able to evaluate a relevant economic concern\/issue and develop an appropriate research agenda to address the issue.<\/li>\n
      • Students should be able to evaluate the academic literature.<\/li>\n
      • Students should be able to present results to scientific and non-scientific community.<\/li>\n
      • Students should be able to collaborate effectively with others in solving research problems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
