Jeff Stocks Named Chair-Elect of College of Management’s Board of Advisors

Stocks leads the largest Manpower franchise in the United States and third largest in the world. He previously served as president and CEO of the franchise which includes 30 branch offices stretching from Raleigh to North Carolina’s east coast. Stocks was responsible for launching Manpower’s professional/ technical practice when he joined the company in 1978. He joined the College’s Board of Advisors in 2003 and is an NC State alumnus.

Stocks will assume the board leadership role in January, succeeding outgoing chairman David Morgan, executive vice president and chief banking officer of Capital Bank. Morgan is concluding a two-year term as chairman of the Board of Advisors and will remain an active member of the board. He is an alumnus of the College of Management, receiving his bachelor of arts in business management in 1982. Morgan was named the the College of Management’s Alumnus of the Year for 2007. This annual awards program recognizes alumni and friends who have given back to their professions, their communities and their alma mater.

The college also welcomed the following new board members:

  • Ms. Mary H. Bell, vice president, Building Construction Products Division, Caterpillar
  • Mr. James M. Field, president, C&CE Division Deere & Company, John Deere
  • Mr. Kyle Rose, vice president and NC regional general manager, Fidelity Investments
  • Mr. William F. Troxler, president and chief executive officer, Troxler Electronic Laboratories Inc.

“Our advisory board members provide a very important service to the college, our students, faculty and staff, and we appreciate their commitment to the college,” said Ira R. Weiss, dean. Key roles of the board include helping the college establish connections in the business community and to engage alumni, serving as a resource for students and faculty, lending their counsel as the college’s leadership team sets plans for the future, and helping to secure corporate and private contributions to further the mission and vision of the college.
