Charlie Stallings, a senior vice president with BB&T Capital Markets’ Institutional Fixed Income Group in Richmond, Va., and an alumnus of the NC State Poole College of Management, has been selected as one the 2014 NC State Distinguished Alumni Award recipients.

Stallings will be honored along with alumni award recipients from NC State’s nine other colleges at the 10th annual NC State Evening of Stars celebration on September 26, 2014. This award program is managed by the NC State Alumni Association.

“On behalf of the college, I congratulate Charlie for this recognition,” said Ira Weiss, dean of the college. “He is a true example of NC State’s Land-Grant mission through his service to NC State. From endowing a Poole College scholarship to serving on the NC State Foundation Board, from hosting the Chancellor in Richmond to his loyal dedication to the Wolfpack Club, Charlie is 100% Red and White for Life. We are proud of his tremendously successful banking career, and thankful for the numerous ways he has given back to the Poole College of Management and NC State.”

Stallings received his bachelor’s degree in business management from NC State in 1977. He is a member of the Wolfpack Club, the R.S. Pullen and the W.C. Riddick Societies and a lifetime member of the Alumni Association. He also serves on the NC State University Foundation.

In addition, Stallings is a former member of the NC State Investment Fund Board of Directors and past president of the NC State Club of Richmond. While president, he spearheaded the campaign for NC State license plates in Virginia. Stallings has established endowments at the Poole College of Management to provide scholarship support to undergraduate students, and has served as a judge for the college’s annual Leadership and Innovation Showcase.

He is co-founder and past president of Greater Richmond Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN). He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Richmond Ballet, the state ballet of Virginia. He and his wife, Jeanne, have four children.
