David Henard Receives Poole College’s Research Growth and Innovation Award

Dr. David H. Henard, associate professor of marketing, received the Research Growth and Innovation award from the NC State Poole College of Management.

The award, announced by Dr. Steve Allen, associate dean for research and graduate programs in the college, recognizes the growth of Henard’s research activity as demonstrated by his participation in refereed conferences, publications in high quality publication outlets, and receipt of research funding awards.

“Being nominated for this specific award is meaningful to me because the past two years have indeed been a time of change and growth with regard to my research activity,” said Henard. “I believe that the previous two years are summed up as a personal period of research growth and innovation.”

Henard has been on the Poole College faculty since 2000. His research has focused on innovation and product development, knowledge management, sales and sales management, corporate reputation, and negative publicity effects.

He returned to active research after completing a dual administrative assignment. From May 2007 to January 2010, he had served the college as founding director of the Jenkins Graduate School’s Master of Global Innovation Management program and director of international programs in the college.

In 2010, he received the Andrew Heiskell Honorable Mention Award from the Institute of International Education, in recognition of his work in launching the Master of Global Innovation Management program in Poole College’s Jenkins Graduate School. In 2008, he had been inducted into Sigma Iota Rho, which promotes and rewards scholarship in the field of international studies and international relations.

“In 2009-10, I reinvigorated my research activities as I transitioned out of my administrative duties,” said Henard.

Since 2009, three of his research papers have been published or accepted for publication in leading journals, including the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. Additionally, Henard has been published in the Journal of Product Innovation Management, the leading journal in product innovation and product development.
