Diversity Speakers Discuss their Corporate Career Paths

The series was launched this fall in the college’s section of the University Studies Course, taught by David Washington, assistant dean for undergraduate programs in the college and director of the college’s Diversity Initiative. “The students have appreciated the opportunity to hear from individuals from similar backgrounds who have achieved their personal and professional goals,” Washington said. “We all benefit when those who have achieved success can share from their experiences.”

The first two speakers this semester were Ralph Johnson, senior vice president of supply management with Nortel Networks’ Research Triangle Park offices, and Randy L. Moore, chief executive officer of RLM Communications in Fayetteville, N.C.

Johnson and Moore, members of the college’s Diversity Advisory Board, spoke about the challenges and opportunities they experienced as they built their successful careers, and responded to student questions.

Also speaking this semester are:

  • Jose Gonzalez, vice president, Research Analyst , First Citizens Bank
  • Paco Roman, Manager, World Wide Sales Enablement, Cisco Systems
  • Gregory Richardson, executive director, N.C. Commission of Indian Affairs
