Dr. Jeffrey Stonebraker Elected to Society of Decision Professionals

Stonebraker teaches in the NC State Jenkins MBA program’s supply chain management concentration and has worked in professional decision analysis positions. He also is a member of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) and the Decision Analysis Society, an affinity group within INFORMS. The society promotes the development and use of logical methods for the improvement of decision making in public and private enterprise.

INFORMS focuses more on the decision analysis side of the field, and publishes 12 scholarly journals,” Stonebraker said. SDP is a new international society that is more practitioner-oriented. It was established in early 2010 to foster collaboration, continual learning and networking among its members and other professional societies and organizations, to help bring clarity and insight to corporate decision makers. Stonebraker serves on SDP’s Educator Forum Council.

“Jeff will be a great asset to the Society of Decision Professionals as the organization develops,” said Steve Allen, associate dean for graduate programs and research in the NC State College of Management. “He brings valuable experience from both the professional and academic perspectives.”
