Employers Invited to October 7 Career Fair

Students from through the college are being encouraged to participate in the career fair, especially undergraduate students who are enrolled in the college’s bachelor’s programs in accounting, business administration, and economics.

The business administration students will have selected one or more of concentrations of study: entrepreneurship, finance, human resources management, information systems, marketing, and supply chain/operations. Accounting studies may concentrate in financial accounting, information systems, internal audit or managerial accounting. Economics students pursue one of three undergraduate degree programs: a bachelor of arts or a bachelor of science in economics, or a bachelor of science in economics: business economics.

The cost for employers to participate in the Career Fair is $400 for corporations and $150 for non-profits and government agencies, according to Brenda McCarthy, director of career development for the College of Management’s Undergraduate Programs Office.

“This registration fee covers booth space with pipe frame and cloth draping; free, on-site parking; a buffet lunch for two recruiters; and assistance throughout the day,” McCarthy said. “Recruiters may also bring additional signage, displays, marketing information, handouts, and favors,” she said.

To register for the career fair, recruiters are encouraged to visit the University Career Center’s Career Fair website or contact Brenda McCarthy, the college’s director of undergraduate career and internship development, for assistance.

“Despite current economic conditions, companies that participate in career fairs now are continuing to develop relationships with college career staff and their students. This will provide a valuable pipeline of talent that they can tap as the economy rebounds,” McCarthy said.

The NC State College of Management is home to about 3,000 undergraduate students and and nearly 700 students in its Jenkins Graduate School of Management, which includes an MBA, Master of Accounting, and Master of Global Innovation Management, and Graduate Economics programs offered jointly with NC State’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The college was established in 1992 with a focus on the management of technology, and its academic curricula, faculty scholarship and outreach activities highlight the new economy’s relationship between business, technology and globalization.
