Four College of Management Alumni on TBJ’s 2010 40 under 40 List

Two of the honorees are graduates of the college’s Jenkins MBA program, and two received their bachelor’s degrees from the College of Management. All will be among the 40 award recipients to be profiled in the May 24, 2010, edition of the Triangle Business Journal.

The annual award honors up-and-coming leaders under the age of 40 who are making a difference in the community. Individuals are chosen to receive this award based on business accomplishments, community involvement and significant career milestones.

The following College of Management alumni were honored:

  • Jennings Glenn, (B.S., Accounting ’97), senior financial officer, Kane Realty Corp.
  • Rich Henderson (MBA ’07), executive vice president of Audubon Environmental
  • Thomas O’Connor IV (B.S., Business Administration, 2000), vice president, BB&T
  • Damon Yudichak, CPA, (B.S., Accounting, 2003, MBA, ’09), Damon K. Yudichak CPA, P.C.

About the honorees

Jennings Glenn

As director of finance, Glenn is Kane Realty Corporation’s senior financial officer with responsibility for overseeing financial strategy and planning and coordination among all disciplines of the company.

Previously, he was the controller for Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc.; senior associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Raleigh; and staff accountant at Blackman & Sloop CPA’s P.A. in Chapel Hill, N.C.

He is a member of the board of directors for the Aldert Root Educational Foundation and chair-elect for the Loaves and Fishes board of directors. He is a volunteer for the Boys & Girls Club of Wake County, and The Oak Ranch, and is an active member of White Memorial Presbyterian Church and participant in Bible Study Fellowship.

In addition to his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the NC State College of Management, Jennings has a degree in political science from Queens College in Charlotte.

Rich Henderson

Henderson has 10 years’ experience in business management, serving as regional account manager for SAS before joining Audubon Environmental, Inc., in 2004 as executive vice president.

In 2007, he was also named president and executive director of Audubon Environmental Land Trust, a non-profit corporation whose mission is to conserve and protect land. He represents the corporation’s interests in protecting the conservation values of natural lands. It currently has an all volunteer staff and is active with land preservation in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and New York.

Henderson continues as executive vice president of Audubon Environmental, Inc., serving in a multifaceted business management role that includes overseeing and directing the company’s strategy, sales and marketing, human resources and contract management, finances, and International operations.

He received his MBA degree with a concentration in services management from the NC State College of Management in 2007.

Thomas O’Connor IV

Since 2008, O’Connor has served as BB&T’s city executive for northeast Wake County, N.C., including the communities of Wake Forest, Knightdale, Wendell, Zebulon, Rolesville and Youngsville. His team has grown its commercial portfolio by 400 percent since January 2008.

Previously, he was commercial lender in the Atlanta, Ga., metro region, managing businesses with revenues between $5 million and $50 million. His responsibilities there included underwriting, portfolio management and growth, deposit growth and non-interest income growth.

O’Connor received BB&T’s annual Sterling Award, and has received the company’s quarterly Sterling Award four times, for his work in northeast Wake County and in the Atlanta region, where he served from 2002 until 2008. He is a UCP certified City Executive and a Lender Advisory Board representative.

He also is active in his community, serving on the Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce’s Government Affairs Committee, Boys and Girls Club Unit Board, Wake Forest’s IDC Fund Task Force, the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. O’Connor also is a member of NC State’s Wolfpack Club and the NC State Atlanta Alumni group.

O’Connor received his bachelor’s degree in business management with concentrations in finance and marketing from the NC State College of Management in December 2000.

Damon Yudichak

Yudichak received both his bachelor’s degree in accounting and his Master of Business Administration from the NC State College of Management. He bought his first business, A-1 Cleaning while still an undergraduate student at the university and later went on to start his own CPA firm. He is a member of the North Carolina Association of Public Accountants, the American Institute of Public Accountants and the Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce, and serves on the Financial Literacy Council. Before pursuing his degree in accounting, he served in the United States Army.

“I congratulate these individuals on their accomplishments,,” said Ira R. Weiss, dean of the college. “It is always a pleasure to see how our graduates have advanced their careers and how they have chosen to give back to their communities.”
