Global Luxury Management Board grows to enhance students’ experience

The Global Luxury Management (GLM) dual-degree graduate program, offered in partnership by NC State University and SKEMA Business School, has grown its Industry Advisory Board from 16 members at its inception in May 2013 to 22 leaders in various sector of the luxury market.

Luxury sectors represented by the board members include accessories, apparel, consulting, financial services, food and beverage, home furnishings, hospitality and transportation.

The board also is instrumental in enhancing the GLM students’ experience. Most recently, board members made possible student access to organizations such as Kerwin Communications, Peter Millar, Ralph Lauren, Tiffany & Co., VIETRI, and The Umstead Hotel & Spa during their fall 2013 study tours in New York and North Carolina.

Board members meet in person twice each year to contribute perspectives related to the global luxury market, as well as opportunities for enhancing the GLM program content. Outside of meetings, board members have opportunities to interact with the students for career development, internships and career hiring, as well as to participate in faculty and student activities, including guest lecturing, company tours, and career management functions.

New GLM Industry Advisory Board Members are:

  • Adam Coremin, vice president, Precept Wine
  • Guillaume de Lesquen, president, Ralph Lauren Fragrances, L’Oreal
  • Hughes de Pins, president-North America, Vacheron Constantin
  • William Humphries, president & CEO, Merz, Inc. North America
  • Jim Kerwin, president & CEO, Kerwin Communications
  • Ryan Stone, chairman and co-founder, Jetpool

The one-year graduate curriculum is offered as an option in NC State Poole College’s Master of Global Innovation Management (MGIM) program. The global luxury management option prepares students to pursue careers in marketing, merchandising, sales, supply chain management and creative content development for the global luxury markets of Europe, the Americas and Asia.

“We are so appreciative of the commitment of our Industry Advisory Board members,” said Ellen Rohde, GLM Industry Advisory Board chairman, retired VF Corporation executive and adjunct member of the NC State College of Textiles faculty. “They are leading executives in the fast-growing global luxury industry, and their insights, experience and network give GLM students truly unique access to the business of luxury.”
