Global Luxury Management

In fall 2012, Poole College launched a new graduate option within its Master of Global Innovation Management – the Global Luxury Management option – to prepare individuals for careers in the dynamic global luxury management market.

"Global luxury continues to be a growth sector, and employers are seeking individualswho understand the unique customer relationships in this environment, who can be entrepreneurial, have global perspective, and can manage the creative and innnovation processes. We are very excited to be drawing on the synergy betwcen our college at NC State and SKEMA's faculty to provide students this opportunity," said Dr. Ira Weiss, dean of Poole College, when announcing the new program in 2012.

The GLM program is offered in partnership with NC State's College of Textiles and Skema, a global French business school that has its U.S. campus on NC State’s Centennial Campus and several other countries. The first cohort of 18 students completed its fall semester at Poole College in fall 2012, and is completing its spring 2013 semester at Skema’s campus in Sophia Antipolis, France.

Coursework at NC State included consumer behavior, managing the growth culture, creativity in management, global textile and apparel business dynamics and brand mangement and marketing. In France, the students are studying communiciation; sustainaiblity; pricing, distribution and retail; and globalization and strategy. Site visits at both campuses are a key part of their experiential learning. Students also will complete an internship in the global luxury market. 

MGIM PROGRAM LEADERSHIP: Dr. Nancy Cassill, professor of textile and apparel technology and management in NC State's College of Textiles management, is academic program director. Derek Keller is assistant director supporting logistics and student services. Robert Sandruck, director of international programs, assists with international logistics.
