Industry marketing leaders among Meet the Pros presenters on Nov. 5

A panel discussion with marketing professionals at some of the Triangle’s leading companies kicks off the fall 2014 Meet the Pros program on Wednesday, April 5, at the NC State McKimmon Center.

The biannual event, hosted by the American Marketing Association student chapter based in NC State’s Poole College of Management, is open to students at NC State and area colleges and universities who are interested in careers in the marketing field.

The panel discussion begins at 6:30 p.m. and is followed by a marketing career fair and networking session that provide opportunities for students and professionals to talk about the marketing career path. The panel discussion is offered in collaboration with Poole College’s undergraduate career development staff.

Panel participants include representatives from IBM, Lenovo, MINDSUMO, The Creative Group and Verizon. In addition, the following companies are participating in the networking event: Consolidated Electrical Distributors, FatCat Strategies, Fastenal, Gibbs & Soell, Northwestern, ROI Revolution, TEK Systems, The Creative Group and The Select Group.

There is no charge for members of the NC State AMA chapter. The cost for on-members is $5. The cost for companies is $100. Register online.

The student AMA chapter has presented Meet the Pros for several years, first in Nelson Hall and more recently at the McKimmon Center as participation by students and companies has grown. The organizers say it has provided an opportunity for students to learn about marketing internship and career opportunities with marketing firms and the marketing units of area companies, as well as how to better market themselves for internships and career positions. For participating employers, it offers the opportunity to meet and talk with students interested in marketing, about opportunities within their organizations, and in more general terms about how to prepare for interviews and the marketing career path.

Meet the Pros also provides an opportunity for students to expand their networking skills and connections in the Raleigh area.
