Justice Martin to Speak on The Importance of the Constitution at Poole College

Mark Martin, senior associate justice of the North Carolina State Supreme Court, is speaking on the topic, The Importance of the Constitution, during the Poole College of Management�s Legal and Regulatory Environment class session on Wednesday, February 27, 2013

The class begins at 9:10 a.m. in the collegeâ��s Nelson Auditorium, 3400 Nelson Hall. Poole College lecturer Charles Gilliam has opened this presentation to NC State students interested in the topic. Students who are also interested in judicial service are encouraged to attend.

With more than 20 years of judicial service, Justice Martin is the only active member of the North Carolina state judiciary with experience on the state�s Supreme Court, Superior Court, and Court of Appeals. He has served in a number of leadership roles within the North Carolina Bar Association, including vice-president and as a member of its Litigation Section Council, Judicial Independence Committee, and Strategic Planning and Emerging Trends Committee.

At the time of his North Carolina Supreme Court installation at age 35, he was the youngest Supreme Court justice in the state�s history. Martin received his Juris Doctorate degree, with honors, from the University of North Carolina School of Law and a Master of Laws in Judicial Process from the University of Virginia.
