Kirkman elected a Fellow of the American Psychological Association

 

Bradley Kirkman, General (Ret.) H. Hugh Shelton Distinguished Professor of Leadership at the NC State Poole College of Management, was elected as a Fellow of the American Psychological Association. He was elected to the APA’s Society of Consulting Psychology, one of the APA’s 56 divisions, at its annual meeting in August 2014.

Kirkman, who is head of the Department of Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Poole College, was elected a Fellow of the Society for Organizational and Industrial Psychology earlier this summer. He was awarded Poole College’s Shelton Distinguished Professorship in spring 2014.

His articles on topics such as leadership, increasing the effectiveness of virtual teams, cross-cultural management issues and team empowerment, have appeared in the Academy of Management Journal, the Academy of Management Review, the Academy of Management Executive, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Management, Journal of International Business Studies, among others. His book chapters have been published in the Oxford Handbook of Industrial and Organizational Psychology; Cambridge Handbook of Culture, Organizations, and Work; Advances in International Management; and Handbook of Global Management: A Guide to Managing Complexity.

At Poole College, Kirkman teaches in the Jenkins MBA program and Executive Programs. Prior to joining the Poole College faculty in July 2012, Kirkman held the Foreman R and Ruby Bennett Endowed Chair in Business Administration at Texas A&M University. He received his doctorate from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
