Krawczyk Awarded Dixon Hughes Professorship

Krawczyk has served at the MAC Program director since 2004. Under her leadership, student enrollment in the program has doubled to its current enrollment of just over 100 students. The program also has been ranked among the top 30 national MAC programs for the last five years.

The MAC Program was established in 1994 in response to the 150 hour education requirement to sit for the CPA exam in North Carolina. Applicants to the two-semester, primarily full-time program must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business to be considered. After several years’ work experience, MAC students may apply to the college’s MBA program, to complete MBA degree requirements with one additional year of study.

As part of their professional development course, the MAC students since 2008 have been working with national professional accounting associations to promote financial literacy through workshops for students at NC State and targeted groups in the Raleigh, N.C. community. These activities have been well received by the workshop participants.

In addition to her role with the MAC Program, Krawczyk teaches graduate accounting courses and has received numerous teaching awards, including the Ernst & Young Faculty Excellence Award, the college’s Board of Governor’s Teaching Excellence Award, NC State Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor Award, and NC State Outstanding Teacher Award.

Beyond her role in the College of Management, Krawczyk also serves on the Administrative Board of the NC State University Graduate School. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the American Accounting Association, and the American Taxation Association. She has served on the editorial boards of several academic journals and as a member of numerous academic committees. Her research has been published in several leading journals, including the Journal of the American Taxation Association, Behavioral Research in Accounting, Journal of Applied Business Research, Journal of Business and Economic Perspectives, The CPA Journal, Journal of Accountancy, and Tax Notes.

Krawczyk received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.

The Dixon Hughes Professorship was established in fall 2009 and is supported by a gift from Dixon Hughes.
