Mark Saad Named a Triangle Top 50 Entrepreneur

In May 2010, Mark Saad, age 24, launched his third business in the Triangle area, Kinder Soles. Since then, he has been recognized twice for his entrepreneurship, most recently by Business Leader Magazine. He’s also gearing up for the national launch of Kinder Soles this spring.

The name of his newest venture hints at the values upon which Saad has based his business model, and it’s all spelled out on the company’s website, kindersoles.com.

That’s where he explains that his eco-friendly flip-flops for socially conscious consumers are made of recycled water bottles, and that the company donates money from the sale of each pair of its shoes to Soles4Souls, a charitable organization whose mission is distributing shoes to those in need.

A comment made in a recent interview for Poole College communications may give some encouragement to students who might be growing weary of classroom lectures and coursework. Saad, whose concentrations as an NC State undergraduate student were entrepreneurship and finance, said he credits courses taken at the Poole College of Management with helping him “learn how to write a business plan, raise money and launch a company.”
