McCreery Named Director of the Jenkins Master of Global Innovation Management Program

The appointment was announced by Steve Allen, associate dean of graduate programs and research at the Jenkins Graduate School of Management in the North Carolina State University College of Management. McCreery replaces Dr. David Henard, associate professor of business management, who led the start up of the MGIM program in its first year. The program received honorable mention in the ninth annual IIE Andrew Heiskell Awards for Innovation in International Education program. The MGIM program was recognized in the International Exchange Partnerships category.

The MGIM program was launched in 2008, in partnership with the Université Paul Cézanne IAE Graduate School of Management in Puyricard near Aux-en-Provence, France. It is designed to bring together students, primarily with technology or engineering undergraduate degrees, from the U.S. and other countries to study business management. Students in the one-year graduate program receive two master’s degrees, one from NC State and one from IAE. After completing several years’ work experience, the students may also enroll in the Jenkins MBA program to complete a second year of graduate management studies and earn an MBA degree.

“John’s role will be to provide academic and administrative leadership to MGIM,” Allen said. “He has been instrumental in making innovation management an area of excellence in the College of Management. He helped to plan the Innovation Management concentration for the Jenkins MBA program and has been a regular instructor for the MBA program’s Product Innovation Lab and Project Management courses.”

McCreery joined the NC State College of Management in 1997, and has focused on innovation management, healthcare performance improvement, and the emerging area of service science. His teaching, research, and corporate executive education activities have been conducted in Europe, Asia, and Africa.

McCreery received his Ph.D. in operations management from The Ohio State University, his MBA from the University of Michigan, and his bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering from Case Western Reserve University. He resides in Chapel Hill, N.C.

The Jenkins Graduate School of Management in the NC State College of Management includes the Jenkins MBA program, Jenkins MGIM program, Jenkins Master of Accounting Program, and the Graduate Economics program administered jointly by the NC State Jenkins Graduate School and the NC State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
