More than 60 Attend Charlotte Alumni and Friends Reception

“The main purpose of this and other regional alumni receptions that the college is starting to host is to provide new and established alumni of the college a chance to meet and build their professional networks, and, of course, to learn of the news of the college from the dean,” said Vicki Burrows, director of alumni relations and special events at the college.

Burrows worked with members of the college’s Charlotte Alumni Committee to coordinate the March event, which was held at One Wachovia Center. More than 60 alumni participated – including a mix of young and established alumni and members of their professional networks who had an interest in the NC State College of Management.

“It was good to see how our young alumni are beginning to build their careers, and to meet the guests they had invited from their professional networks,” Burrows said.

The college plans to hold two alumni and friends receptions in Charlotte each year, with the help of the regional committee. Additional regional receptions are being planned for 2010 in the Washington, D.C. area, New York City, and Chicago. Some may be held in collaboration with alumni groups from other NC State colleges. Alumni interested in discussing events for their area are encouraged to contact Burrows.

“We also encourage all of our alumni to update their records online or by contacting me directly,” Burrows said.
