NC State Jenkins Career Management Center welcomes new director

The NC State University Poole College of Management announces the appointment of Bev Porter as director of the Jenkins Career Management Center (CMC) in the college’s Jenkins Graduate School of Management. The Jenkins CMC serves graduate management students in the college’s MBA, Master of Global Innovation Management and its Global Luxury Management concentration, and Master of Supply Chain Engineering and Management programs.

“Bev is charged with taking an already successful program to an even higher level,” said Steve Allen, associate dean for graduate programs at the college. Ninety-one percent of NC State Jenkins MBA full-time students who graduated this past May had accepted a job offer at the time of graduation, with Lowe's, IBM and Eaton among the top employers.

“In addition to getting to know my team and our students, my top priority is to develop a best-in-class outreach program to broaden the career opportunities for our NC State Jenkins graduates,” Porter said. “I have a great passion for working with graduate management students, and I am energized by this tremendous opportunity at NC State.”

Porter brings to her new role a depth of corporate and university experience in organizations like Duke University and Aventis CropScience (now Bayer CropScience). Most recently, she was the corporate relations director at the Duke University Fuqua School of Business, where previous roles included career counseling, program development and delivery, and international coaching.

Porter’s corporate experience includes supply chain, procurement, human resources and customer service positions at Aventis CropScience (now Bayer CropScience) and project management at Performaworks in Raleigh. In addition to leading a cross functional team of project managers at Performaworks, she was the senior project manager for the largest international client implementation in the company’s history.

Porter received her bachelor’s degree in materials and logistics management from Michigan State University and a master of education in counseling from NC State University.
