NC State Jenkins Graduate School of Management Celebrates Graduation Firsts

NC State University’s Jenkins Graduate School of Management celebrated a milestone when it graduated its inaugural classes of students in the Professional Online MBA and Global Luxury Management programs December 18, 2013, at NC State’s PNC Arena in Raleigh, N.C.

The 29 online MBA graduates began their studies in August 2011. The program, which offers students an accelerated 21 month option or a flexible track allowing as long as six years to degree completion, was created when NC State recognized the need to provide working professionals the utmost flexibility an MBA program could offer.

Graduates are employed by companies like BB&T, Biogen Idec, PepsiCo and Syngenta, and are from communities across North Carolina as well as California, Illinois, Ohio, Tennessee and Texas.

“We are incredibly proud of the graduates of our online MBA program,” said Dr. Steve Allen, associate dean for graduate programs and research at NC State’s Poole College of Management, which includes the Jenkins Graduate School. “In addition to growing their careers while simultaneously earning an MBA degree, they have been instrumental in helping to shape the future of NC State’s online MBA program.”

Global Luxury Management Graduates

NC State also conferred master’s degrees on the first class of 16 students in the Global Luxury Management (GLM) program. Mallorie Moore and Andrew Owens attended the commencement ceremony, along with Dr. Nancy Cassill, GLM director (center in photo above).

The one-year graduate curriculum is offered as an option in the Jenkins Master of Global Innovation Management (MGIM) program, in partnership with SKEMA Business School’s campus in Sophia Antipolis, France. The global luxury management option prepares students to pursue careers in marketing, merchandising, sales, supply chain management and creative content development for the global luxury markets of Europe, the Americas and Asia.

Graduates of the GLM program have secured positions with luxury companies like Peter Millar and Chanel.

“Graduates of our first Global Luxury Management class are starting their careers in and poised to make real contributions to the smart growth of the burgeoning luxury industry. We congratulate them and look with excitement to the future,” said Dr. Nancy Cassill, director of the Global Luxury Management program and professor in the NC State College of Textiles.

“The demand for the GLM program is strong; we doubled the class size in the first year.”

A total of 128 Jenkins MBA students graduated on December 18, including those in the program’s full time and professional MBA options.

Following are totals on the graduate students awarded diplomas by program.
