Orientation Sessions Over, Now The Real Work Begins for Poole Students

Poole College is settling into a new semester, with a few new faculty members and hundreds of new students.

One group of the new students, though, won’t be seen in Nelson Hall nor the college’s satellite MBA campus in Research Triangle Park. These are the 31 students in the online program offered by the college’s Jenkins MBA program. The online Jenkins MBA option was announced last year.

The MBA program also welcomed 50 new full time students and 72 part-time students to its program, for a total of 96 full time students and 292 students in its part-time option. Most of the part time students attend classes at the program’s RTP location.

The Master of Accounting program has its largest class ever this year – 119 students, with four of those attending as part-time students.

The Office of Undergraduate Programs welcomed 405 new freshmen this fall, and 119 new off-campus transfer students, for a total of 2,514 undergraduate students.

The Economics Graduate Programs, offered jointly by Poole College’s Jenkins Graduate School and the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, has 69 masters degree students and 101 Ph.D. students.

“As these numbers show, our enrollments are very strong this year,” said Dr. Ira R. Weiss, dean of the college. “I am particularly excited to welcome our largest MAC class ever, and our new online MBA students.”
