Poole College’s Shack-a-Thon team raises $6,628 for Habitat for Humanity
The final tally is in: Poole College's Habitat for Humanity team raised $6,628.71, earning it recognition as top fundraiser among the 20 teams competing in the 2013 NC State Shack-a-Thon to support Habitat for Humanity, reports the college's team leader Ryan Musser. Campus-wide, the Shack-a-Thon raised $37,174.91, exceeding by 31 percent its 2013 goal of $30,000.
"It has been a pleasure working on Shack-a-Thon these past few weeks," Musser said. "My management team has been so incredibly supportive and not only took the required initiative but went above and beyond and poured their time into Shack-a-Thon to make this a success. Participating in the Poole College team were students from the following organizations:

- Poole College of Management Ambassadors
- American Marketing Association
- Collegiate DECA
- Poole Council
- Society for Politics, Economic, and Law
- Economics Society
- Poole College of Management Peer Leaders
The team raised $5,660 in online contributions at the Shack-a-Thon website, and the remainder through bake sales, a bowling event and other activities. The college also received an additional $60.25 in donations after the competitiive portion of the fundraising event closed, Musser said.
"The faculty and staff has been great as well and was always available to help as needed," he added. "Special thank you to the Poole College Board of Directors, faculty, alumni, Gilbane construction, family and friends, and students who made this event a success through their support, hard work and monetary donations. They are all much appreciated and all played a huge role in the success of Shack-a-Thon. It was a pleasure to work with them towards our common goal."
