Poole SHRM chapter receives Superior Merit Award for 2013-14

The NC State Poole College’s student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) received a Superior Merit Award for significant achievements in the 2013-14 academic year.

Beth Ritter, human resources lecturer in Poole College’s Department of Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship and faculty advisor for the club, said NC State chapter’s activities this past year focused on:

  • Assisting in the transition from college to career
  • Hosting a training session for LinkedIn
  • Providing support to the Raleigh Wake Human Resource Association during meetings
  • Partnering SAS to present a conference for local HR professionals.

The award recipients were recognized during the awards program at the 2014 Annual Student/Faculty Conference held in Orlando on June 21 and through national SHRM communications, including the fall 2014 edition of SHRM Student Focus magazine distributed electronically as a supplement to the HR Magazine.

The 2013-14 officers were Will Bowman and Rachel Mastro, co-presidents; Madison Anderson, vice president, professional; Kelson Crocker, vice president, programs and events; Andrew Cutchin, vice president, membership; Leigh Smith, vice president, administration; Alyssa Williams-Sinn, vice president, finance; Kaley Baughman, Poole College liaison; and Taylor Tharrington, vice president, publicity.
