Practical information for corporate innovation leaders is focus of CIMS winter meeting

Strengthening innovation processes is the focus of the January 8 and 9, 2015, meeting of the Center for Innovation Management Studies (CIMS), to be held at the Raleigh Marriott City Center, 500 Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh, N.C.

Presenters are faculty, industry practitioners and research fellows associated with CIMS, a research center based in the NC State Poole College of Management.

Authors of the forthcoming book, "Traversing the Valley of Death: A Practical Guide for Corporate Innovation Leaders," will provide an overview of the book, which includes a system and processes that managers at established companies can use to generate growth from disruptive innovation in products and services. The authors are Steven Markham, professor in Poole College’s Department of Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Paul Mugge, director of CIMS and former IBM executive.

Markham’s research has focused on the systems of processes high-tech companies use to foster and manage innovation, technology commercialization and the front end of innovation. For more than a decade, he has been teaching graduate management students and executives to apply processes that lead to breakthrough innovation by successfully navigating the Valley of Death.
