Robert Handfield Launches Blog about Trends in Supply Chain Management and Operations

Handfield, who also is director of the college’s Supply Chain Resource Cooperative and was recognized as a ‘Pro to Know’ in 2007 by Supply Chain and Demand Executive magazine, said he sees the blog as an opportunity to exchange knowledge about what is happening in the supply chain management field.

He will be posting to the blog periodically as reports and topics evolve. His initial post summarizes results of a research project regarding supply market intelligence.

“I’m excited to announce the launch of my blog,” Handfield said. “This is a great opportunity to let others know what is going on in the field of supply chain management, and a chance for me to stay in touch with those who share a common interest in supply chain topics.”

The blog is part of the Supply Chain Resource Cooperative (SCRC) website. Handfield has led the SCRC at the NC State College of Management for over a decade. With co-director Steve Edwards and coordinator Susan Clark, the SCRC brings the supply chain industry into the classroom, providing the college’s graduate and undergraduate students real world experience through project-based learning and internships with partner companies. Students report on their projects at the SCRC’s biannual meetings, which also include industry updates and topical presentations by practitioners. The experience provides students the opportunity to see the transfer of academic research into practice in the field, and give companies a chance to meet and work with future leaders in the industry.
