It’s Spring Career Fair Season

That means it’s time for students to prep their resumes, get their business suits back from the cleaners and start researching their preferred recruiting companies. These are just a few of the reminders coming from the College of Management’s career resources staff as they help students prepare to make their best impression the upcoming career fair.

The college’s Feb. 2 Career and Internship Fair is held in collaboration with the College of Humanities & Social Sciences (CHASS), and is open to all NC State students. It will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at NC State’s McKimmon Center, at the corner of Western Boulevard and Gorman Street in Raleigh.

A shuttle will be available to transport students to and from Nelson Hall throughout the day, along with the regular Wolfline buses. The shuttle will stop between Nelson Hall and Kilgore Hall on the NC State main campus.

“This year’s spring Career and Internship Fair will be our best yet,” said Brenda McCarthy, director of career and internship development for the College of Management’s Undergraduate Programs. She encourages the college’s undergraduate students to participate in the BackPACK to Briefcase workshops developed by the Undergraduate Programs Career Resources staff. They will be held Jan. 20 – 29.

“You will learn tips for preparing for career and internship interviews, and learn how to develop your professional persona,” McCarthy said. She also encourages students to “do your research on the companies that interest you most, dress professionally and bring your newly revised and polished resume if you aim to secure that job offer.”

Employers from a wide range of industries are participating, recruiting undergraduate and graduate students from the College of Management’s business administration, accounting and economics degree programs, as well as students in CHASS’s communications, psychology, sociology and other programs.

“Holding our career fairs at the McKimmon Center provides an effective venue that enables us to attract more employers, providing a greater number of career opportunities for students to explore,” McCarthy said.

“Regardless of when you anticipate graduating, this is a great opportunity to learn about the different employers who recruit our students for jobs and internships,” she said.

A complete list of participating companies for is available in the NC State Career Resources ePack system.
