Students seek election as freshman class reps to Poole Council; voting is Nov. 8

Poole Council, the student government organization for the Poole College of Management at NC State, is holding elections Friday, November 8, for a freshman class representative to the Poole Council.

Seeking election are Will Clarkson, Jenny Green, Allie Hanks, Georgia Hezain, Taylor Jones, and Jaakob Poysti. Elections will be held on Friday, Nov. 8, following the M100 class.

This is the first time freshmen will have a representative on the council, and the first time that class representatives are being elected, said Erin Dixon, director of undergraduate programs in Poole College. Freshman representatives who are elected will continue to serve as they move up into other classes.

The Poole Council’s executive committee, elected each March, has been appointing representatives for the sophomore, junior and senior classes, selecting from a pool of applicants. Each student organization registered with Poole College also has a representative on the council.

The Poole Council was established in March 2011 to support cohesion, communication, and collaboration among all students, faculty, staff, and organizations within Poole College. Among its responsibilities the allocation, by the council’s executive team, of student fee funding to official student organizations in the college.

The council also holds events designed to facilitate communication and involvement within the college. One of those is the Poole Party, a student organization fair held at the start of the school year. Each Poole College student organization is represented with an information table, introducing students – especially freshmen and new upperclass students – to the opportunities they offer for engagement. A lunch is provided for Poole College students who attend.
