Time to enter Startup Madness, the annual collegiate entrepreneurship competition

Student entrepreneurs at NC State University are invited to submit their business ideas to Startup Madness 2015. Applications from undergraduate and graduate students will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on March 20. For access to the online application, click here.

NC State undergraduate and graduate finalists will present to a panel of judges on March 23, 2015 at the Poole College of Management. Winning teams from each division will be notified by March 24 and will participate in Startup Madness as the NC State representatives on March 27.

This is the fifth year that NC State is hosting this collegiate entrepreneurship competition that brings together the best student startups from the Atlantic Coast Conference to compete in a bracket-style startup pitch competition. The 2014 competition had 20 student teams from 12 ACC schools.

All teams accepted into the competition will be invited to the March 26 Startup Madness VIP kickoff event at The RTP Frontier in Research Triangle Park.

“This event provides an opportunity for student entrepreneurs representing the ACC schools to network with each other and the special guests attending the reception,” said Lewis Sheats, senior lecturer in entrepreneurship at Poole College and director of the NC State Entrepreneurship Clinic, an outreach of The Entrepreneurship Collaborative based in the college. Sheats has led the Startup Madness competition at NC State from its inception.

On March 27, the student teams will present their companies to a panel of judges in a bracket-style pitch competition, competing for up to $3,000 in cash prizes, local program scholarships and venture consultations. The grand prize includes a trip to Silicon Valley to meet with an investment firm.
