Faculty and staff should have received information for the 2017 State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC), which continues through November. All state employees and retirees may support this campaign, selecting from among hundreds of charitable organizations that applied to be part of this campaign or by making an undesignated contribution. Donations may be made through payroll deduction, cash, check, credit card or stock transfer, using the materials that were distributed by college unit representatives (note: providing cash with your commitment is discouraged). Donations may also be made online at go.ncsu.edu/secc. Note: Faculty and staff will receive messages periodically about this campaign from the university, from the name, Your SECC Team. These may land in your spam folder, and may continue to arrive after you have made a contribution.

Andy Nowel, lecturer in the Department of Economics, continues as coordinator for this annual appeal, assisted by the following contacts in each of our units, who have or will be distributing the print materials for your area. You may contact Andy or your area’s volunteer if you have additional questions.

State Health Plan Open Enrollment has begun, and continues through October 31. Several changes have been approved for the 2018 benefit year, meant to reduce plan complexity while maintaining quality health coverage and providing long-term financial stability for the State Health Plan. The online enrollment process has been simplified, requiring 10 clicks, versus about 50 required last year. Note that all members will be automatically enrolled in the 70/30 Plan, but can select the 80/20 Plan. For either plan, employees MUST TAKE ACTION – completing the tobacco attestation during the Open Enrollment period – to reduce the premium. For more information please review the Decision Guide that was mailed to your home address. Additional information can be found on the State Health Plan’s website at www.shpnc.org.

Note: Effective October 9, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) will implement a major MyPack Portal update that will provide a tile-based navigation: a modern look and more mobile, user-friendly interface. As a result, the HR System and MyPack Portal (which includes web clock access for timekeeping) will be unavailable starting on Friday, October 6 from 6:30 p.m. until Monday, October 9 at 8 a.m. Employees needing to clock in/out over the weekend may use the wall clock devices or a Remote Employee WolfTime Timesheet.
