Travel Authorization (TA)
Employees who are going to be in overnight travel status must complete a Travel Authorization (TA) in advance of departure. A TA is an estimate of the expenses to be incurred while traveling and it should be as accurate as possible and contain as much information as possible.
It is not required to complete a TA for day trips however it is advisable so that there is a record of the travel with the supervisor’s approval.
Non-Exempt Employees must track their work time by utilizing the Travel Time Sheet.
The Travel Authorization should be processed (and approved) at least one week prior to the start of the travel and can be processed as soon as one year prior, and prior to incurring any expense 2013 personal or PCard.
