With remarkable foresight, NC State\u2019s founders recognized the legacy they could leave by putting opportunity into the hands of every citizen willing to <em>think and do<\/em>.<br><br>Brick by brick, NC State has been built on the foundation of that mission \u2013&nbsp;and built by the generosity of those who have believed in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Private support from the university\u2019s alumni and friends funds scholarship opportunities for the underserved, expands opportunities and experiences for students, strengthens the university\u2019s faculty and empowers cutting-edge research.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"has-blue-400-text-color wp-block-ncst-pullquote\">\n  <div class=\"pullquote-container\">\n    <p class=\"pullquote-content\"> Private support from the university\u2019s alumni and friends funds scholarship opportunities for the underserved, expands opportunities and experiences for students, strengthens the university\u2019s faculty and empowers cutting-edge research.\u00a0 <\/p>\n  <\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of all, it gives every member of the Pack the opportunity to leave their mark on the world through applied innovation that solves problems and fuels prosperity.<br><br>\u201cPoole College has become what it is today because of the generosity of individuals who believe in the impact of the college,\u201d says <a href=\"https:\/\/poole.ncsu.edu\/people\/brclark2\/\">Brian Clark<\/a>,<strong> <\/strong>executive director of development and external relations for NC State. \u201cI am consistently amazed when I meet with our alumni and supporters how deeply they care for the college and how invested they are in growing it for future generations.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Capturing the spirit of this community, NC State launched a new campaign on October 28, 2016. One of the largest single donations in NC State\u2019s history, the Poole Family Endowment enabled the College of Management to become what it is today: a leader in sustainability and one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/poole.ncsu.edu\/news\/2020\/11\/17\/2021-princeton-review-rankings-reflect-university-wide-entrepreneurship-efforts\/\">top entrepreneurship programs<\/a> in the country. With a $4 million endowment from Steve and Judy Zelnak, Poole College <a href=\"https:\/\/news.campaign.ncsu.edu\/2014\/09\/zelnak-gift\/\">established<\/a> the university\u2019s first endowed dean\u2019s chair:&nbsp;the Stephen P. Zelnak Jr. Dean\u2019s Chair in the Poole College of Management. They launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/mba.ncsu.edu\/academics\/leadership-development\/\">McLauchlan Leadership Series<\/a> \u2013&nbsp;a professional development program for Jenkins MBA students that aims to develop ambitious students into high-capacity leaders. Through executive networking, coaching and personal leadership challenges, the program develops personal, team and organizational leadership skills in the next generation of leaders.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The More the Merrier<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The spirit of philanthropy, it seems, is contagious. Owens invested in the college\u2019s future with the <a href=\"https:\/\/news.campaign.ncsu.edu\/2020\/02\/new-chair-unites-two-colleges-on-the-international-stage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">James W. Owens Distinguished Chair in International Economics<\/a>. Establishing a collaboration between Poole College and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, as well as a partnership between the university and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.piie.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Peterson Institute for International Economics<\/a> (PIIE), the gift advances research, fuels innovation and raises NC State\u2019s status as a local, national and international leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To advance the college\u2019s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, the VF foundation made a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/poole.ncsu.edu\/news\/2018\/06\/29\/nc-state-poole-college-announces-gift-from-vf-foundation-to-support-diversity-inclusion-efforts\/\" target=\"_blank\">gift<\/a> supporting marginalized students in 2018. Less than a year after establishing an <a href=\"https:\/\/poole.ncsu.edu\/news\/2019\/01\/08\/faculty-excellence-comes-full-circle-in-newest-hong-endowment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">endowed scholarship <\/a>in honor of his mother in the spring of 2018, he established a second endowment to support faculty in honor of his father.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Best Is Yet to Come <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While the college has grown substantially in the last decade, the $100-million mark is a reminder to Poole College that the best is yet to come.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With sights set on becoming a world-class, forward-focused business school with a reputation for solving complex problems in a global, technology-driven marketplace, the college sees various opportunities to grow. One of the largest single donations in NC State\u2019s history, the Poole Family Endowment enabled the College of Management to become what it is today: a leader in sustainability and one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/poole.ncsu.edu\/news\/2020\/11\/17\/2021-princeton-review-rankings-reflect-university-wide-entrepreneurship-efforts\/\">top entrepreneurship programs<\/a> in the country. Zelnak Jr. Dean\u2019s Chair in the Poole College of Management. They launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/mba.ncsu.edu\/academics\/leadership-development\/\">McLauchlan Leadership Series<\/a> \u2013&nbsp;a professional development program for Jenkins MBA students that aims to develop ambitious students into high-capacity leaders. Through executive networking, coaching and personal leadership challenges, the program develops personal, team and organizational leadership skills in the next generation of leaders.<br><\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:heading -->\n<h2><strong>The More the Merrier<\/strong><\/h2>\n<!-- \/wp:heading -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The spirit of philanthropy, it seems, is contagious. Establishing a collaboration between Poole College and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, as well as a partnership between the university and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.piie.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Peterson Institute for International Economics<\/a> (PIIE), the gift advances research, fuels innovation and raises NC State\u2019s status as a local, national and international leader.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>To advance the college\u2019s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, the VF foundation made a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/poole.ncsu.edu\/news\/2018\/06\/29\/nc-state-poole-college-announces-gift-from-vf-foundation-to-support-diversity-inclusion-efforts\/\" target=\"_blank\">gift<\/a> supporting marginalized students in 2018. Less than a year after establishing an <a href=\"https:\/\/poole.ncsu.edu\/news\/2019\/01\/08\/faculty-excellence-comes-full-circle-in-newest-hong-endowment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">endowed scholarship <\/a>in honor of his mother in the spring of 2018, he established a second endowment to support faculty in honor of his father.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:heading -->\n<h2><strong>The Best Is Yet to Come <\/strong><\/h2>\n<!-- \/wp:heading -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>While the college has grown substantially in the last decade, the $100-million mark is a reminder to Poole College that the best is yet to come.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>With sights set on becoming a world-class, forward-focused business school with a reputation for solving complex problems in a global, technology-driven marketplace, the college sees various opportunities to grow.
