In spring 2018, they established an endowment to support student scholarships in honor of Matt\u2019s late mother, Jean Hong. Soon after, they established another endowment in the name of Matt\u2019s father, Don Hong, to support a teaching excellence award for faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So when Dean <a href=\"https:\/\/poole.ncsu.edu\/people\/buckless\/\">Frank Buckless<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/poole.ncsu.edu\/people\/brclark2\/\">Brian Clark<\/a>, Poole College executive director of philanthropy, stopped in Atlanta to catch up with Matt, a new giving opportunity was soon to follow.<\/p>\n\n\n<aside class=\"right-aside wp-block-ncst-aside-widget\">\n    \n<a \n    class=\"has-custombg-two-text-color ncst-fact wp-block-ncst-aside-fact\"\n    href=\"https:\/\/poole.ncsu.edu\/contact-development-team\/\"\n          >\n      <span class=\"ncst-icon\">\n            \n    <\/span>\n              <h2 class=\"fact__heading\">Learn more about supporting Poole College.<\/h2>\n              <p class=\"fact__cta\">\n      <span class=\"text\">Please contact Poole Development and External Relations Team<\/span><span class=\"arrow-indicator\"><svg class=\"wolficon wolficon-arrow-right-bold\" role=\"img\"  aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<use xlink:href=\"#wolficon-arrow-right-bold\">\n\t\t<\/svg><\/span>\n    <\/p>\n    <\/a>\n\n\n  <\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI maintain an ongoing dialogue with Brian and Frank to keep a pulse on what\u2019s happening at the university, the college\u2019s areas of need, and how we can continue to grow, improve and impact society,\u201d Matt Hong says. \u201cThey mentioned a desire to continue to support faculty research within the college, which led to this newest gift.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Hongs\u2019 newest commitment will provide Poole College with funding to create a \u201cTerm Professorship\u201d award for a highly productive, mid-career faculty member.
