Twelve weeks. One new program with a big impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/poole.ncsu.edu\/undergraduate\/business-hire\/\">Business HIRE (High-Impact Rural Experience)<\/a> matches Poole students with full-time, paid internships at rural North Carolina businesses. He says the internship has provided the clearest view yet of how operations connect across a business and the preparation he needs for life after graduation.<\/p>\n\n\n<aside class=\"left-aside wp-block-ncst-aside-widget\">\n    \n<blockquote class=\"has-custombg-seven-text-color wp-block-ncst-pullquote\">\n  <div class=\"pullquote-container\">\n    <p class=\"pullquote-content\">\u201cWe wouldn\u2019t do this if it didn&#8217;t benefit us. Internships force us to teach, and when you teach, you re-evaluate your own processes. That\u2019s valuable.\u201d<br><strong>\u2014<br>Steve Scott, Tri-State Steel<\/strong><\/p>\n  <\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n  <\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve grown more in the past five weeks than I have in the last couple of years,\u201d Knodel says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Owner Steve Scott agrees, calling Knodel\u2019s growth rewarding to watch. \u201cHe\u2019s learned he can lead from his authentic self. That\u2019s been powerful for us, too.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the internship was transformative for Knodel, it also had an impact on the company.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe wouldn\u2019t do this if it didn&#8217;t benefit us.\u201d Scott says. \u201cInternships force us to teach, and when you teach, you re-evaluate your own processes. Now I have the confidence to involve myself where I wouldn&#8217;t have in the past, which has helped me grow my network both on and off campus.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lewis\u2019 supervisor, Rebecca Larkin, praised her positive attitude, initiative and attention to detail.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<aside class=\"left-aside wp-block-ncst-aside-widget\">\n    \n<blockquote class=\"has-custombg-three-text-color wp-block-ncst-pullquote\">\n  <div class=\"pullquote-container\">\n    <p class=\"pullquote-content\">\u201cAnna made a meaningful impact through her reliability, collaborative spirit and thoughtful contributions.\u201d<br><strong>\u2014<br>Rebecca Larkin,<br>KIOTI Tractor<\/strong><\/p>\n  <\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n  <\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnna made a meaningful impact through her reliability, collaborative spirit and thoughtful contributions,\u201d Larkin says. \u201cShe was always punctual, engaged and consistently went above and beyond with her deliverables. She was a great asset to our team this summer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lewis says she is grateful for the Business HIRE experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The program provided me with an unbeatable support team that made finding my way at an internship much less stressful.
